Overview:

A Library without patterns is like an empty drawer. A Library is not really worth anything until there are some entries in there to use. This tutorial quickly shows you how to add patterns to your Library collection. It really is quick and simple.
|
|
Adding an entry to a library is as simple as selecting part of an existing pattern and putting it in the currently open library. The key part is selecting the area to add. In this example, we have a pattern that contains some pretty flowers. We have already created a library called My Flowers. This tutorial will show you how to add the carnation to the My Flowers library.
|
Step 1:
Open the Library:
You need to open the Library that you want to add the entries to. In this example, we want to open My Flowers. Do this by selecting the Open a Library option from the Enhancements menu. Find the My Flowers library, select it and press OK. The Library panel will open and display the current entries. In our example, the My Flowers library is currently empty.
|
Step 2:
Select the Area:
You do not add an entire pattern to a library, but rather a piece of it. That is important. To add a piece, you first need to select it. How? Easy, just click on the selector toolbar button (the black arrow), and draw a box around the area to add. Here, we have drawn a selector box around the carnation.
Now, just right-click your mouse inside the selected area to display a popup menu. In that menu, choose the Add to Library option.
A small window will display allowing you to name the piece. Type Carnation in the name and press the OK button.
|
That's It!
That is all there is to it. The Carnation has now been added to you’re My Flowers pattern library. You can continue to add as many entries as you wish, and before you know it, your library will be full of beautiful flowers!
Note: Just for fun, right click your mouse on the carnation in the library. See the popup? The Edit option will open this entry up allowing you to make changes if you wish. When you save it, the pattern will automatically be put back in your library. The remove entry will delete the entry from the library.
